Winter Trees

We had our first official snow fall last week . . . and let me tell you, it was huge! About 1ft of snow fell. It was crazy. It really made me feel like it was Christmas. I actually thought about putting up my tree.

My Christmas card marathon is on!  I am just lovin' this little Winter Trees die from Simon Says Stamp. I first die cut it in Brushed Silver card stock for the outline of the trees and then used green glitter paper to die cut once more for inside the outline. See picture below to get the full effect of the trees from a side view. It's so much prettier in person. I am making of bunch of these to send out!

I must add, the glitter paper I used from DCWV is like no other glitter paper I have used. It's called Glitzy Glitter Paper Stack. It has a smooth texture, not too thick, and best of all the glitter doesn't rub off on your fingers!  It is a delight to work with and looks so pretty and delicate. The stack comes with 6 different colors, 24 sheets in all. Well worth every penny!

Northern Flurry

I'm back!!!!! It's been a "flurry" of happenings in my life over the past few weeks.

I am excited to tell you I got a management position at my place of employment that I have wanted for a really long time. I start my new position on Monday.

Two weeks ago we took a trip to visit family in North Carolina. We got home and a member of my husband's family had to go to the hospital. Everything is starting to settle down now - finally.

Although life can be a "flurry", making Christmas cards doesn't have to be with the new Stampin' Up! Northern Flurry Embossing Folder. I love embossing folders because they make a card so quick & easy with superb results.

To make my snowflakes stand out a little more on this card, I sponged Whisper White Craft Ink lightly over the embossed image and popped each flake with a Stampin Up Basic Rhinestone.

I hope you are enjoying fall. It's a beautiful season and great time to stamp or scrapbook. Enjoy your day & happy stamping!

Combining Stamp Sets

Sometimes we tend to take out our favorite stamp set and only use that particular set to create a card. Stampin' Up! makes it easy for us to do just that. For example, the set Christ is Born provides you with images as well as verses and sentiments all in one package. It makes it very easy and fun to create, but let's take it to a different level!

Today, I am challenging you to take out two or three of your favorite stamp sets and mix and match like I did with this Christmas card. Can you guess how many stamp sets I used? If you guessed three, you are correct! I used Stampin' Up! sets Christ is Born, Four the Holidays, and Leaf Lines. It's always fun to mix things up a bit!

Let me know if you try this out. I'd love to see your creation! Feel free to e-mail me a picture. I may send you a little thank you gift if you do! (hint hint)

Coming up . . . I'll share with you the Thanksgiving cards I'm mailing out to family next week.

Pine Tree Branches

Growing up we always had a real Christmas tree for the holidays. The smell was amazing, however, stepping on pine needles in your bare feet was not. Those little suckers would even get caught in your socks too. Easter would come and you were still finding pine needles in the carpet. Too funny! As the sole decorator of my own home now, I have an artificial tree. Much, much easier but I do miss the aroma. The paper from the Stampin' Up! Designer Series Set, Merry Moments, has a beautiful design of pine tree branches. It reminded me of the real Christmas trees I had growing up. I didn't want to cover up the patterned paper too much on this card, so I kept it simple by just adding a little snowflake, sentiment, and finishing it off with that big chunky ribbon. I used Kraft colored Stampin' Up! card stock to keep it earthy looking along with Chocolate Chip and Old Olive.

I had a great Halloween weekend! We went to my sister's in Indiana to trick or treat with her two boys. She lives in a big subdivision and we collected way too much candy! I've been sneaking a little out of my son's bag everyday. Shhh! Don't tell. He had a blast being a fireman for Halloween!

Enjoy your day and have fun stamping!!!

Happy Holidays

I have been busy working on my holiday cards. I'm inspired to use non-traditional colors this year.

I love the Stampin' Up! patterned paper Christmas Cocoa, paired up with in color Soft Suede. I thought it looked a little vintage, so I added Antique Brass Vintage Brads to the center of each snowflake (Serene Snowflakes). The patterned paper has a shimmer to it. I tried to photograph it so you could see the shimmer. What bonus to have specialty type papers included in this collection. In addition to the shimmery type paper, you also get two sheets of flocked paper. Have you checked out the My Digital Studio software yet? I have seen gorgeous scrapbook pages, cards, and flyers made with this software. People are making their own family picture Christmas cards with this software. It's very cool and priced right!

We hope to make it to the pumpkin farm this weekend. Halloween will be here before you know it. My decorations are out, but no pumpkins yet!

Enjoy your weekend and take time to stamp!

A Non-Traditional Christmas

Who says you need to use red & green for your Christmas cards? Not me! How do you like this combination? I used Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, and Bashful Blue. I CASED this layout from a card I saw in a recent Stampin' Up! Success magazine (demonstrators only magazine). I loved the colors and design! The recipe will be listed at the end of the post.

This color combination would be great for an autumn card too. Speaking of autumn, it's a beautiful fall day here! I'm having a Stampin' Up! Open House this week so I've been busy preparing for that today. It's going to be so much fun!!!

My little guy started pre-school last week. Here is a picture of him ready to go on the first day. He's loving it! It's so neat to see him learning new things everyday. What a blessing!

Have a wonderful weekend!!! Thank you for visiting my blog today!
