Winter Trees

We had our first official snow fall last week . . . and let me tell you, it was huge! About 1ft of snow fell. It was crazy. It really made me feel like it was Christmas. I actually thought about putting up my tree.

My Christmas card marathon is on!  I am just lovin' this little Winter Trees die from Simon Says Stamp. I first die cut it in Brushed Silver card stock for the outline of the trees and then used green glitter paper to die cut once more for inside the outline. See picture below to get the full effect of the trees from a side view. It's so much prettier in person. I am making of bunch of these to send out!

I must add, the glitter paper I used from DCWV is like no other glitter paper I have used. It's called Glitzy Glitter Paper Stack. It has a smooth texture, not too thick, and best of all the glitter doesn't rub off on your fingers!  It is a delight to work with and looks so pretty and delicate. The stack comes with 6 different colors, 24 sheets in all. Well worth every penny!

Jingle all the Way

I am hooked on the Stampin' Up! Decor Elements. When the line was released a few years ago I said, "I'll never buy or sell those". Oops! I currently have a wall hanging in my craft room made out of them, jars embellished with them, and now a Christmas decoration. Did I mention another order of them on the way too? Shhhhhh. Don't tell the hubby!

This Jingle all the Way wall hanging will go in my foyer for the holidays. The cool part is I added the vinyl lettering to the glass of the frame so next year I can swap a different background of Designer Series Paper for a completely different look. For this year, I used Stampin' Up! Newsprint Designer Series Paper. It was the perfect musical match for my Jingle all the Way Decor Elements.

Enjoy your day & happy stamping!

Teacher Gift Idea - Coaster Calendar

Hello everyone!

Are your wheels starting to turn about what to get everyone for Christmas, or better yet, what you are going to craft this season for gifts?

I have received several requests for teacher gift ideas. In a recent article called "What Teachers Really Want", from FamilyFun.com, they say:

Some schools issue guidelines on gift giving and getting. Parents are urged to keep it simple, with presents such as handmade art projects or cookies. They are also warned to be sensitive to religious and cultural differences.

I have a great idea that would be within most school guidelines - a desk calendar! This desk calendar is made out of two coasters. I simply attached this chalkboard-like patterned paper from Provo Craft with Mod Podge. I used my Crop-A-Dile to punch 3 holes in each coaster and attached the two coasters with some thick ribbon to match the paper.

On the inside, I stamped on black cardstock a sentiment from Stampin' Up! Best Yet hostess set and added a little ribbon and flower. I adhered a little tear off calendar on the other side and that is it!I have another desktop calendar idea you can make for your friends coming up in another posting so stay tuned.

I hope you have a wonderful day and I'll be back this weekend! Take care and thanks for stopping by!

Spring Card for a Christmas Card!

Hello friends!

I am so past due for a blog posting! How do you like this, Christmas in July with a Spring Card! I get a little nutty over anything with really cool folds, or origami as they call it. I saw this on Splitcoaststampers a couple weeks ago and had to try it. I challenge myself every year to start my Christmas cards in July, but it has yet to happen. This year, I have a head start.

If you click on Spring Card, it will take you to the tutorial on Splitcoaststampers. It's easy. Don't be intimated at all!

Supplies I used: Patterned paper by Basic Grey - Figgy Pudding, Li'l Davis Designs "Christmas" stamp set, SU! Hodgepodge Hardware in Antique Brass, Vintage Snowflake button by Buttons Galore & More, and twill musical notes ribbon.

Once I completed my folds, I cut a 3.25 x 3.25 square of paper to stamp on for the center. I stamped "Joy" in SU! Basic Black ink and then crumbled it up and unfolded it to make it rugged looking. I inked the edges with SU! Basic Black ink. I attached my hardware, did a little paper piercing near "Joy", and glued this entire piece to the card. I glued my photo corners down on the base of the card and did a little paper piercing there too and attached a brad in the center. I love things that are different! I'll have to show you my Christmas card from last year. It was a hit!

Thanks for stopping by & TGIF!
