I {Heart} Hearts

Stampin' Up! exceeded my expectations on their Valentine's Day paper & stamps this year.

Sending Love Specialty paper shines with glittery designs on one side. I tried to capture some of the glitter on the paper in the photo above. Hopefully you can see how subtle it shimmers. You get 12 sheets total which includes two sheets each of the six double-sided designs (12x12). The paper coordinates with Stampin Up Real Red, Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip, and Very Vanilla card stock.

I let my Big Shot and Punches do most of the work for this Valentines Day card. I used the Stampin' Up! Scallop Circle Bigz Dies and Circles #2 Original Die for the background.

I love my new clear stamps, so I stamped a couple hearts from the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set. Recycle Your Christmas Cards

I've been saving for the past couple years my favorite Christmas cards I receive over the holidays in hopes to do something with them. I've seen ideas for making ornaments out of them, but that appears to be a little time consuming. I came up with the idea of recycling my Christmas cards into Christmas cards once again! All you need is an array of Stampin' Up! card stock, Big Shot & dies, and a little creativity. I've been whipping out a bunch of these!

This Santa card on the right was a card front that sparkled from the subtle addition of glitter on it. I used the Stampin' Up! Scallop Circle Bigz Die to cut it out the main image of the card and layered it on some shimmery Christmas scrapbook paper. I attached it to Real Red card stock to make a 5x5 card. This card took me minutes to create!

The card to the left was created using the Stampin' Up! Top Note Bigz Die. I couldn't resist the little snowman & glittery snowflakes on this Christmas card I received last year. I attached the metal sentiment under the snowman and tied Bashful Blue ribbon around the Top Note die cut. The Brushed Silver card stock was the perfect card base for this recycled Christmas card.

I had a Christmas card with this snowflake piece mounted on pop dots. I carefully pealed it off the card and reapplied new pop dots and used it on this card! Since the snowflake is silver, I used a little Stampin' Up! Brushed Silver card stock as one of my layers to pull it all together.

I have truly enjoyed this little project I made up and find it to be a fun challenge! I made these cards last weekend and made four more today.

I hope I've inspired you to save those holiday cards this year so that next year you can make these too! It's good for the environment to recycle, cheaper than buying cards, and fun to see where your creativity will take you.

Celebrate Today!

I mentioned in my last post my husband & I went to see Joel Osteen last weekend in Ohio. His message included thanking God for everything good and right in your life. When you wake up, be happy you can see, walk, have clothes to wear, a job to go to. It's such a simple thing to do, yet I know I am guilty of taking things for granted. I am going to try harder to "celebrate today" each and every day.
My creation goes along with my new theme in life! I hope you like it. It's also fitting for a birthday card too! The "Celebrate" comes from the Stampin' Up! retired set Wonderful Words. It's very similar to Heard from the Heart or Warm Words, another favorite of mine. You could also use Celebrate Everything and really personalize what you are celebrating!

The big scallop circle in the background is the Scallop Circle Die (item #113468) from Stampin' Up! This die is not only great for scallop circle die cuts, but you can also make scallop circle cards from it. If you don't have a die cutting machine and would like scallop circle cards, Stampin' Up! sells Carousel Notes which include 12 cards with envelopes!

I created my own center for the Prima flowers using Stampin' Up! Jumbo Brads and adding a little flower rub-on. Don't be shy about using your rub-ons. They go on practically anything! Gotta love em!

Hello Yellow! Stampin Up Sale-A-Bration Ends Tomorrow!

I like to play with different card sizes to keep things interesting. This card is a 4.25 square that fits comfortably in Stampin Up! Medium Square Envelopes (item #107289).

I started off with my Delicate Dots (sale-a-bration #114674) Designer Series paper. I felt like yellow for my main color. Spring is here, right? I think so. There was snow on the ground this morning. Anyway, I cut and attached to the entire front of the card a piece of yellow patterned paper from this collection (4.25 x 4.25).

Next, I took the striped paper from the set and ran it through my Big Shot using the Scallop Circle Die. I cut the die cut in half and attached it to the top portion of my card.

Whisper White cardstock and a Martha Stewart border punch finished off the bottom portion of my card.

The center of the card utilizes two stamp sets – Polka Dot Punches (sale-a-bration #113788) for the flowers and Hostess Set (level 1) Darling Dots for the leaves. They go well together, don’t you think? I love it when it works out that way!

I stamped my flowers in Bashful Blue ink on Whisper White cardstock and punched them out using the 5 Petal Flower Punch. I layered behind it the same flower in Bashful Blue cardstock. The leaves were stamped in Old Olive and cut out by yours truly. Sorry, no Stampin’ Up! leaf punches yet. Hmmm. Maybe I should send them the idea!

The flowers needed a little something, so I dug into my button stash and found the perfect buttons from the Button Bouquet collection.

Lastly, a sentiment. Love and Happiness Rub-Ons (retired - see possible alternatives under recipe at the bottom of this post) had just the right sentiment in the right color for this card. I love rub-ons. Super easy to add to any creation. Love them!!!
