Walk in the Park

What a beautiful weekend! Too bad it goes so fast. So how is your Monday so far? I wish I could say Monday's are a "walk in the park", but they seldom are.

Speaking of "Walk in the Park", my creation today is all about that. Check out page 9 of the Stampin' Up! Occasions Mini Catalog. This paper is gorgeous! I thought it was pretty in the catalog until I received it in person. Now I'm going with "gorgeous" to describe it.

I made a card out of a half sheet of 8.5 x 11 Whisper White cardstock. I used a 5.5 x 4 inch piece of the gray patterned paper, from the Walk in the Park collection, as my first layer. Next, I took a 1 inch wide strip of Whisper White cardstock and finished the edge with the Eyelet Border punch. I cut that piece to 5.5 inches long and added it about 1/2 inch from the top of the gray patterned paper.

I decided to use the bright Cameo Coral patterned paper from the collection to really make a statement against the gray. I think it worked! This piece is 5.5 x 2.5 inches.

The square piece with the sentiment is 3x3 inches - Whisper White cardstock, a different gray patterned paper from the collection, Cameo Coral scallop circle, and a Whisper White circle for the stamped image.

I stamped an image from the Pocket Silhouettes set in Basic Gray ink. It's a very simple, yet elegant stamp set to use. I've seen a lot of neat things created with this set. See one of my prior postings with this set by clicking HERE.

After I assembled the 3x3 square piece, I tied a sheer gray ribbon around the center of the card and attached the square piece.

As the card reads, "thanks so much", for visiting my blog today! Have a good one!

friend to friend

Rough week! I ended up at the doctor Tuesday with a sinus infection. I just feel lousy! My little one made me a "Get Well" card at the sitters. It's so sweet! I save everything he makes. It will be fun to look back on it someday.

I am sorting through my rubber stamp collection, getting rid of ones I just don't use or no longer like. I stumbled across Pocket Silhouettes which is one of my favorites that I just forgot about. Ever do that? I think I need better stamp storage so I know what I have. I have all my holidays, birthday, and verse sets well organized, but then there are those all occasion sets that get piled on top of one another. Those need to be better organized.

The card I am sharing with you today utilizes Pocket Silhouettes and Raspberry Tart Designer Series Paper from Stampin' Up! I inked up my stamps in Basic Black and stamped them on Whisper White. I layered each stamped image on Pink Pirouette and Basic Black cardstock to really make it pop. I also layered the Raspberry Tart paper on Basic Black cardstock to make that stand out a little more. This was a really fun card to put together. I love black & white with bright colors!

Well my friends, off to work! Have a wonderful day and God bless.

Stampin' Up! Pocket Silhouettes

Hello everyone! Thank you so much for all the nice e-mails wishing me luck on my test. I can happily say I passed! I'm so glad that it's over. Now I can concentrate on getting ready for the holidays. I am hosting both Thanksgiving and Christmas. I am also hosting two birthday parties in between. I have a lot of work to do!!!

One of the birthdays in between the holidays is my mother-in-laws. She lives in an independent senior living community. It's pretty big and she is always in need of a card for someone whether it be birthday, get well, just because, etc.

I made her a set of note cards using rectangular Nestabilities and one of my new favorite sets from the Stampin' Up! catalog called Pocket Silhouettes (item #111672, pg. 98). It's cute, simple, and inexpensive (under $20). I see myself using this set year-round, for any season or occasion. I'm going to include with this set of cards matching envelopes and a book of stamps. I have made sets of cards for others as a gift and it's always a hit! Keep that in mind for that person on your list that is hard to buy for.

I used 4 colors to make this set and they are all Stampin' Up! colors:

Whisper White
Summer Sun
Pretty In Pink
Lavender Lace
Bashful Blue

I have much more holiday paper-crafting to show you this week, so be sure to check back. Thank you for visiting my blog today! I love to read your comments, so don't be shy to leave me one!
